If there is a degree which creates a vista of opportunities from Day 1, it is the MBA. No other degree creates such a landscape of opportunities as an MBA degree does. Consider an Mcom degree holder and MBA degree holder competing for jobs in a FMCG MNC. AICTE is conducting Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) for equipping institutions to select eligible students for admission in all MBA and PGDM courses approved by AICTE since 2012-13. CMAT will be held twice in a year in every March and September. Prior to the tests, candidates will be informed through leading news papers and the AICTE website. The tests held in 2013 (September) and 2014 (February) will be valid for admissions in 2014-15. If a student writes both the exams the best score shall be placed for admission purposes.
All graduates and final year students of BBA/BCom/BTech/BA/ or any other course, can apply for the CMAT. Application can be made online through the AICTE website: www.aicte-cmat.in.
The test fee structure is as given below. Fee can be deposited online using net banking or Challan (available for download from the AICTE website) and cash paid in any of the branches of State Bank of India.

The detailed merit list will be provided to the respective State Governments for allotting the students through central counseling or otherwise as per their notified admission procedure. Why learning process more important? (Case Study Methodology)
According to the definition given in Merriam-Webster’s dictionary (2009) A Case Study is an intensive analysis of an individual unit (as a person or community) stressing developmental factors in relation to environment. If one takes a look at the number of searches in Global Monthly Searches the word case studies has a figure of 1830000.
Now, learning is more important than following a particular methodology. There is an old saying which says that excessive consumption of anything will lead to a negative impact. Most of the B-Schools across the globe have been adopting the case study methodology and are following the same for quite a long time. My argument is if for example you are providing a case study on the life of famous football player Mara Dona and if the student is only confined to the case what will be the output. If he does not know what a football looks like? How many players are in the game, what is a goal post etc….
Now let us see how famous football player Mara Dona’s case study should be approached by breaking from the traditional method practiced for a case study. Firstly, before circulating the reading material all relevant concepts should be explained to the students and any doubts should be cleared. Using technology in this case some video clippings can be shown to highlight the famous “fist of god” goal and other games played by Mara Dona as a football player. Next one can show his era as a coach. We can here use video games to stimulate an environment of sports inside the classroom. Then hand over the reading material that is the real case study and ask the students to do research with regard to not only the case but also anything and everything mentioned in the case. Lastly, involve them into a discussion in the classroom with regard to the case.
As seen from the above procedure if a case study can be conducted in the above methodology the output will be definitely much better than the traditional method where the student just reads the given materials and comes into the class next day only to discuss something which he has already read and not understood.
Again one of the disadvantages of a case study is that it cannot be taken as a standard practice. Each case is ideal for a particular situation only. More than that it usually gives the perception of the author who might be biased.
